Georgi from Georgi’s Space
After relocating to the US, I made the decision to walk away from my former career in London as a project manager. Leaving behind the world of organizational administration wasn’t easy but I realized I couldn’t imagine giving up my exercise as it kept me afloat mentally and emotionally at the time. I wanted to work with real people and get to know this new world of the USA I was now in.
I now have a decade of experience as a certified personal trainer, I am a long-term runner, I have a love for swimming, I am a Pilates instructor, yoga instructor, strength conditioning and long-term meditation practitioner and coach.
One of the greatest things I’ve learned is how to create an internal, adaptable structure during times of external chaos.
It wasn’t always that way. In fact, it used to be the opposite. I often felt like every storm life threw my way would knock me over—mentally, emotionally, energetically. Sometimes it didn’t even take a storm. A gust of wind, or even a light drizzle (which we got plenty of back in England),
Then I learnt Resilience isn’t about being rigid. It’s about learning how to bend.
My client once shared a metaphor that has stayed with me.
They spoke about Japan—one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world. In the past, buildings there were constructed with rigid foundations. Strong, yes—but unmoving. So when the earth shook, the structures cracked, crumbled, and collapsed. Every time. Rebuilding became a painful cycle of destruction and effort.
Eventually, Japan changed its approach. After years of loss and turmoil, they stopped trying to build for strength alone—and started building for resilience. They pioneered seismic (size mic) isolation technologies, base isolators, shock absorbers and updated their codes to reflect the latest understanding of safety and flexibility. Now, when an earthquake hits, their buildings move with the tremors. They sway. They shift. And they stay standing.
They are not weak. They are responsive. Not rigid, but resilient.
This is exactly what I help people do. Not build perfect lives. Not create unshakable routines. But to develop daily disciplines that build inner flexibility, confidence, worth and strength.
